My New York

MY NEW YORK
Wendy Maitland & Ginger Brokaw

Brought to you by the Atelier team, MY NEW YORK is your insider take on the happenings of New York. Welcome to your most relevant and fun information guide to the New York City real estate market.

We feature off-market and luxury properties, special blogs by and about iconic New Yorkers we know and love, and interviews  with emerging and established cultural icons. We integrate architecture, art, music, fashion, food, technology, history, events and more.

Established in 2017 by NYC real estate industry veterans, Atelier/Brown Harris Stevens is a luxury new division with a brand vision stemming from first-hand experience and a multi-generational local, national and international client base. We have a deep understanding of who and what drives markets, and which market niches are positioned for growth, expansion and increasing value. Our market is driven by constantly shifting demographics and cultures. Therefore, we are in the business of people as much as real estate.

Our focus is not on what’s happening today, but on what’s coming tomorrow, next month, next quarter and annual changes that indicate trends that enable us to best guide our clients to maximize happiness and profitability. This is achieved through careful analysis of each of NYC’s micro-markets and by experience-driven interpretation of the impact of emerging and future real estate, global and local economic forces, and cultural trends, combined with astute awareness of YOUR priorities.

Have you ever met someone who’s smart as a whip, but just can’t get out of her own way on the path to positivity and success? Have you experienced this yourself in your life, either wholesale, or regarding a certain aspect of your life? If you have, and if you haven’t quite found the answer as to why, read on.

"I do not regard a broker as a member of the human race." -Honore de Balzac

Does Balzac’s sentiment resonate with you? If you buy or sell real estate, whether for yourself, as an investment, or if you’re a developer and reading this, and you’ve questioned the value of a great broker’s representation, you’re about to become enlightened.

Feelings toward others, and oneself, are the lifeblood of the human brain. They are what inspire us to get up every morning...

THIS WEEK IN NEW YORK CITY HISTORY

September 24th, 1957- The Brooklyn Dodgers played their last game at Ebbets Field, defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0 , before moving to Los Angeles
September 25, 1789- The first U.S. Congress, meeting in New York, adopted twelve amendments to the Constitution, wit Ten of them going on to become the Bill of Rights.
September 26, 1957-  "West Side Story," a New York classic, debuts on Broadway.

THIS WEEK IN FOOD

BÂTARD- Tribeca's best kept secret. The brainchild of Drew Nieporent-who also owns  Nobu & Tribeca Grill (among others)-  Bâtard quickly became known for its incredibly creative and elegant dishes. Located at 239 West Broadway, The Michelin Star restaurant combines uptown chic with downtown hip and is definitely not one to miss.

ANTICA PESA- In 1922, the Panella family opened a restaurant in the a small Roman neighborhood, Trastevere, and named it Antica Pesa (The Old Scales) in support of the generosity of their fellow countrymen. Generations later, in 2012, the family opened an outpost in Williamsburg Brooklyn, located at 115 Berry Street, paying homage to their Roman home. The ambiance in this Brooklyn gem is unmatched and is one of our favorite restaurants in the world.

ANDO- Restaurateur David Chang opened up  delivery-only restaurant last year, Ando. This week, however, the restaurant is getting a fast-casual storefront downtown. Located at 31 West 14th St. (bw. 5th and 6th ave), CEO Andy Taylor describes his new restaurant as a Pret-style restaurant. You can grab-and-go for cold food, or order hot food at the counter. Knowing David Chang, and the consitent quality he puts out, this will surely not disappoint.

THIS WEEK IN HOSPITALITY

Atelier's own Beni Metsch is the Director of VIP Services/Programming at the Public Hotel. Located at 215 Chrystie Street, Ian Schrager's newest hotel, with multiple restaurants, a rooftop bar, as well as an exquisite event space with hints of Studio 54 (which Schrager  started forty years ago) is the definition of downtown chic.
